We can wait one more day, right?

ONE day of quarantine left! We are horribly stir crazy and can’t wait to get outside. Okay, okay, I am the one who is horribly stir crazy… Rob and the boys have been training for this for 15 months. I have spent the last several days planning what– and when– we will see things here because the UK is NOT opening as planned. This means that we will still need timed tickets to almost everything, Read more…

London’s calling…

This is my 5th trip to London in the last 19 years. Since I am stuck in a hotel for another 5 days, I figured maybe I should take stock of what I have learned on previous visits. There will be a few pictures, but they are from previous visits- most of them from our second honeymoon visit in 2019. A brief overview of my previous visits, as I will likely reference them and it’ll Read more…

Wickers in the Big Apple

We are killing time in a 2 bedroom suite at a Residence Inn in London while we complete our UK quarantine requirements. The quarantine requirements do not change for vaccinated individuals so the fact that the boys have been unable to be vaccinated is irrelevant. I really expected to enjoy 10 days of enforced downtime as I have not had much time off in several years. Boy, was I ever wrong. To fill some of Read more…

What a day!

We were ready early and I laughed that something was really wrong if we were actually going to be early for a flight…. The traffic to Newark was relatively smooth…. We sailed through a very short TSA line and I commented that I’d never even seen a line that short. We got to the gate and I presented our tickets, our passports, and our negative COVID tests. And everything came to a screeching halt…. When Read more…

The third time is a charm…

Our trip from Albuquerque to Knoxville was uneventful. Chad survived the trip and we were thankful he is a larger vehicle as we still seemed to be smashed in like sardines. We stopped in Oklahoma City and Memphis on the trip back and made sure that we timed our Mississippi River crossing at a time when traffic would be low since the main bridge is out and the delays can be horrendous. We spent all Read more…

Only in New Mexico!

We have seen a few things in New Mexico that we are sure we will see nowhere else in the world. Meow Wolf in Santa Fe has now opened a location in Las Vegas but as we don’t plan to go there we will probably never experience anything else like it. It’s part art installation, part mystery reenactment, and completely enthralling. I cannot possibly explain it but it is definitely worth the time- allot plenty Read more…

“We used to have a mother, now we have a travel agent”. — Eli, age 12

He was kidding, I promise. As anyone who knows Eli would know, he is quite the comedian. Jokes aside, however, there is a bit of truth there. I feel like all I have done is make hotel reservations and transport arrangements. The sheer number of moving parts in a 144 day- 49 city European tour is somewhat mind-boggling even 5/6 of the way through planning. I now have all the hotel stays arranged and 35 Read more…

The End of the World as we know it….

When I started this blog in August 2019, the world was a different place. We had all intentions to downsize and be ready to leave on a World Tour by September 2020. We did downsize but, as you probably know, the trip got delayed. If you didn’t know, PLEASE- STOP READING RIGHT NOW and go back to whatever Shangri-la you have been living in for the last year. You should just continue to imagine that Read more…

Hello world!

Hello world!!!! That was the existing header from the blog template and it is so very fitting! This blog is going to chronicle our preparation for an around the world trip and the trip itself- so “Hello world” is perfect! If you are here, you probably know us- but just in case, allow me to introduce us: I am Aimee, married to Rob, and we have six children (plus a bonus child) that range in Read more…
