Rob and I joked about how once we made the decision to go home, everything would smooth out and go perfectly because that just seems to be the Wicker Way.
It looks like we were right. We have just spent the most lovely week in Rouen. The place is gorgeous. The people are lovely. The art is amazing and seems to be everywhere you look. And there are patisseries on every street.
I have taken so many pictures that I am doing two small posts to fill with pictures and I am not scratching the surface. I could fill a post just with the Joan of Arc related pictures and info. Rouen is the city where she was tried and executed and they are quite proud of her.
The city is so quintessentially French that we have made a small game about seeing the “Most French thing EVER”. It started when I noticed that there were little girls dressed just like Madeline from the children’s books. Then Ian saw a man with a backpack riding a bicycle with his toddler in the child carrier and in the bottle pockets on the side of his backpack were two baguettes. But today, Eli found the game winner…. a baguette vending machine. How could you not adore a place where fresh bread is such a part of daily life?
