As we say in the South, it’s been “a minute” since I last updated this blog. Many of you know us IRL, so it hasn’t been necessary for you guys to read the mundane details of the last year, but there might be a few followers who haven’t seen us and don’t know what we have been up to. For those, and those of you who were only halfway listening while I have prattled on, I give you the following highlight list:

  • We spent 6 months in Fort Myers, Florida.
  • We spent a couple days on Jekyll Island, GA on the drive home and I will always mourn the fact that I do not live there.
  • We relaxed and just enjoyed being home in SC for a bit. I have had a contract in Durham, NC since April and we have been able to travel back and forth easily so we got to enjoy the beach quite a bit this summer.  We got to have family visit us at home in Surfside Beach so our kids got to have some cousin time with a couple different sets of cousins!
  • Eli and Ian both went to camp for the first time. Ian went to Archeology camp through the Exploring Joara Foundation Archaeology Summer Camps – Exploring Joara Foundation and Eli went to Space Camp in Huntsville, AL. It meant he flew alone for the first time- a much more nerve-wracking experience for me than him.
  • We have our baby girl back home with us for a little bit! Jade is enlisting in the Air Force and is waiting to go to boot camp. We are thrilled that she has been with us for several weeks now!
  • We got a puppy! This was possibly one of the most ridiculous decisions we have made, as we have another trip planned but he is staying with Brian- our friend who is really family- who happens to be very experienced at puppy-sitting!
  • We planned our next trip… you may remember me saying that we had put a deposit down on a 16 day repositioning cruise to Tokyo? Well, that got cancelled by the cruise line. Japan was so slow to fully reopen to tourists that Norwegian, not surprisingly, was concerned about taking a ship full of tourists there on a one way cruise. So we pivoted with them… we are now taking a 22 day trip on the same ship heading to Europe instead. More on that in another series of posts!

A couple more pictures that didn’t fit above but still need to be shared-

Sounds and looks like everyone is doing well. Joe and I took a trip to San Fran this Aug and heading to New Orleans for Halloween. We are both well and other then some extended family illnesses were getting by. We are looking forward to going to Alaska in late July early Aug next year. Work is work nothing new except the travelers. Hey!!! Need a job? Take care and keep in touch.
