Hi! I’m Ian. I am the youngest Wicker and am very interested in Archeology and Paleontology. Yesterday, we went to Hadrian’s Wall. Hadrian’s Wall was a defensive border wall built by the Roman Emperor Hadrian in AD 122 to keep the Picts out. The wall was originally approximately 14 feet tall with towers and forts that were taller. It was about 70 miles long.

We were scheduled for an archeological tour but we got stuck in traffic and were late. I ended up getting a personal tour from an archeologist named Lucy. She was one of the dig supervisors. Lucy gave me an inside look at the Roman empire and their architecture which was amazing.  I got to go inside the fence of the archeological dig site which was very fun. We were also allowed to stick around for the lecture given to the archeology students which was also very interesting.

They found a bath house with a bathing area where soldiers would clean off after battling.  They uncovered water pipes and a changing room with the foundation of a bench.  It’s amazing to think that Roman’s built bathing water pipes and changing rooms back so long ago.

Wow nice write, and I think it’s so interesting that you were able to finagle your own personal tour. There is a lot of history in the UK enjoy.
